I know many of you do not have a USB drive, or just worry about it will get lost (we have seen many cases already). Here is one solution to check out if you always have the Internet connection: online storage.
The online storage service is getting popular these days to replace emailing files to yourself. Here are several options (free service) you may choose to use:
- GSU service
- PAWS eStorage: inside GSU PAWS or https://estorage.gsu.edu/NetStorage
- SharePoint (myRobinson): go to MySite and "Personal Documents".
- uLearn: use Content Manager on the My uLearn homepage.
- Commercial service (free)
- Google Docs: read the news above and test with your Google Docs account.
- SkyDrive: if you are using Microsoft Live id (IM, MSN, Hotmail, your GSU email, etc.).
- Box.net: very popular online storage place.
- Office Live Workspace: provided by Microsoft, 5GB space.
- Are you using any other service and want to recommend?
!! A note on store MS Access files: do you get an error when opening MS Access files "The file does not exist, or you do not have read access to the file"? Remember that you cannot directly open MS Access files from browsers after downloading; you HAVE to specifically download and SAVE it first to a certain folder, and then go to that folder to open the file.

I have used USB drives since I was about 12 years old. I had never even heard of online storage services until I got to college in 2008. I guess I'm a little behind on usage of the internet. It is very handy to be able to access documents and information I need right on the internet at anytime and the fact that I don't ever need to carry anything around (with the possibility of losing or miss placing my USB drive) is great. Google Docs has saved me so much time and energy since I started using it this year. Being able to post documents or slide shows that I can have others edit right then and there is amazing and I am able to save so many things in one space. ULearn has been so helpful for teachers to communicate to their students (or students to communicate with other students) with emails or announcements and post documents that they want to share. I have not yet used any of these other help services, but if they are as helpful as Google Docs and ULearn then I can't wait to try them out.
